Chelton Myers is a professional motivational speaker who comes to the Serenity Springs' campus to inspire clients suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. Although never experiencing chemical dependency himself, Chelton’s story of inspiration comes from overcoming his disability and pursuing his dreams. Chelton was born with Cerebral Palsy. He did not truly learn of his disability until he was 8 years old, about the time he was ending elementary school. Chelton at first struggled to accept what he was born with. However, entering high school, he found God and realized that his disability can be an advantage and he can use it to help a lot of people. Determined to not allow his disability to impede his life, he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where he received two bachelor degrees in History and Political Science. Graduating with honors and GPA of 3.9. Another inspirational fact about Chelton is that he needed a walker to move around until the age of 25. The following two years, he taught himself to move around without assistance. It was an arduous journey. Exemplifying the adage many suffering from addiction must adhere to; “When you fall you must get up and try again.” Chelton is currently completing a book titled, “Consider it Pure Joy,” which he hopes to publish in the next year. He is also preparing for the LSAT exam and plans to begin Law School. When Chelton is not using his time to spread his message of hope and inspiration he enjoys watching sports and spending time with family and friends. However, Chelton enjoys most being around others that he can inspire and help. Chelton is an enormous inspiration at Serenity Springs and clients use his story to help transform their own lives.
